two jack russell bitches from the same litter

by Em
(plymotuh)

HI, myself and my partner are considering getting two female jack Russell terriers from the same littler. I have been told by a few people that this may not be the best thing to do as they may not get on with each other as they get older?

Any advice?

two jack russell bitches from the same litter

Hi thanks, for your reply. I have owned a JRT before, however I have not owned two dogs before. My only worry would be of bonding, would the dog that we own for 6 months be okay to be introduced to another male dog at 6 months old? And also would you say it is not a good idea to get a male and a female straight away to live together?

I WOULD SUGGEST THE FOLLOWING...

Hello,
I would highly suggest to you NOT to get two female sisters together OR two females at all! I am a dog trainer and sitter and I can tell you that "Terrier" females do not get along with othe females, terrier or other wise. My 2 and a half year old female JRT gets along with EVERY male that I dogsit. We never sit females, because they will fight and hurt one another. You will be a lot happier with a male and female of the same litter (CANNOT BREED together, so they must be FIXED) or a male and female of a different litter. It is also wise to get them maybe 6 months or a year apart. They train each other and it is good to have a lead puppy and then the follower. PACK stuff! I hope everything goes well and GOD bless.
