My Jack Russell is a little over 4yrs, I've had the same problem for 2 yrs now! She is for sure good at her escapes! From jumping OVER fences to darting out the door the second it opens! After countless attemps and HOURS of chasing her around my neighborhood (I live off a very busy main road-which I've been in the middle of stopping traffic!), I've learnt to STOP chasing her, it's a game to her! When she looks back and sees that I'm not following her, she'll slowly inch her way back towards the house. I know she's happy here at home, some say she's spoiled rotten, ask myself many times why does she do this? Good luck with your Escape Artist

Depends on how he is getting out. If he is digging under a fence place stones all around the bottom. If he is jumping out don't know. Squeezing through a gate reinforce the opening.

Usually fool proof keep him inside and on a leash outside.
