my jack Russell is 14 and she has not been in heat for years but now she has started again. is this normal or should we take her to the vet?

Hello,
Ladyjack is spot on. Your JRT needs to be seen at the Vet for a hormonal imbalance.

The best to you. This is usually not life threatening.

I would certainly get her checked out at the vet, as this does not sound normal,the sooner it is looked at the sooner you will all feel better.
