Question

How do you stop a sixteen week old jack Russell puppy from biting? Is it bad to slap them on the nose?

Hello,
I know this can be frustrating, but the better approach is to get a small water bottle or childs water spraying toy. When the bad behavior is noticed, just give a little squirt on the paws or top of the head, not in the FACE!
Another approach is when puppy does this to put puppy in the kennel box or a safe place and say in a firm voice, NO BITING! Puppy can come back out in 5-10 minutes and if behavior continues again, lenghthen by 1 minute the time. JRT's are very intelligent and will get this after a few days. NEVER hit your JRT with anything because you are showing it aggressive behavior and it will turn on you when it gets older.

P.S. never play tag of war with THIS JRT, it's aggressive behavior and is not good for their neck muscles!
