My Jack Russell has become aggressive, what can I do?

My Jack Russell is a 3 year old male. He has not been fixed since our goal was to breed him but that never worked out. Recently he started getting more aggressive. When you get onto him for anything, after he returns to his kennel, he will growl and snap at you. Is there anything that can be done to change his behavior? Will getting him fixed help? I have two children, ages 13 and 10, and although he is normally very good with them I am afraid that he could bite one of them.

I have a almost 2 year old male he is not fixed and has also become very aggressive. I happen to come to this page trying to find answers as to what to do. I was trying to wipe off his paws this am just to get the mud off and he snapped and growled at me. I dont understand he is a great dog most of the time as soon as he gets in any kind of trouble he gets aggressive :-(

Hi I have a 2yr old Jack Russell.he was fine up until he reached 2 (sexual maturity) then he went bonkers, biting me,he won't let me leave the room,he won't let my husband sit on the couch even though the dog doesnt sit on it.if there is two of us in the same room he gets aggressive and snappy, jumping up and growling.yet if theres one in the room he's fine.He bit my other dog who is older and calm and we have had to seperate them, since before christmas.we introduced them again every week or so and he goes mad and my other dog is scared.we are at our wits end.we love him so much but at times he scares us.my son takes no messing off him and hes fine with him most of the time.we had him neutered with no effect.please please help

I feel your pain!

Boy does this sound familiar! We have a 1-yr old male Jack who used to be very sweet and snuggly and then at about 8 mos old after we bred him to our female he changed! Very dominant, very snappy and chases after our female and attacks her. Also growls at us. We had him neutered at 1-yr old in hopes that it would mellow him out, but unfortunately after 2 months still aggressive toward her and very dominant and moody with "his humans." If we scratch his back too much he growls at us, and then if we scold him for growling at us he goes after our female in a terrible fight that we have to pull them off each other. I wish I had some advice for you, but the truth is that we have posted adds to give our male away. I am starting to see a very aggressive side to this breed, especially the males. Our female gets growly, but she submits and doesn't bite at us. If we had it to do all over again knowing what we know now, I would stick with just female Jacks!! Good luck!
