My Dog is Not Interested in Other Dogs

Our JRT Vivi is almost 7 years old, very healthy and a good dog. The problem is she is not interested in other dogs when we are in the park, she prefers her own business ( hunting ).

This is very embarrassing for me. She goes to the boarding every 2 or 3 months and when she arrives at home she is very friendly for a few days.

How do we handle that? Any advice please!

Vet Suggestion on Canine Interest in Other Dogs

I’m afraid there is not much you are going to be able to do to change Vivi’s disinterest in other dogs. I suspect this is just who she is and you should not be embarrassed by her behavior. Some individuals enjoy the company of dogs; others do not.

If she does want to play, perhaps it is best not to take her to the dog park. Dog parks are certainly not for every pet! Find something that the two of you do like to do together, for example going for walks or playing “fetch” in the house and focus on that instead.
