Unsanitary?
by: Anonymous

Excuse my spelling but a dogs lick is NOT unsanitary! The acids in a dogs saliva kills almost all bacteria it comes in contact with. In fact, a dogs mouth has less bacteria than a humans mouth! It is also good for a dog to lick your wounds as this will clean the wound almost as well as an anti-bacterial lotion.

My jack is the sweetest dog I have ever had. She loves everyone and if she happens to get close to thier face she seems to think she needs to obsesively lick a humans face. I have gotten her to obey my commands and after a stern "no face" command she has learned to stop.

jacks love people

jacks are are a very loving dog. they like to show affection as well as recieve affection. that is why they lick faces. if you continue to allow it all the time they will only do it more.
you have to put your foot down as this is a bad practice, not to mention (unsanitary) do you know where that dogs tongue has been? YUCK. loaded with bacteria that is harmful. especially to children. you must tell your dog with command: NO, DOWN. or hold their mouth shut and push them down every time the do it. i'm not saying they will stop all together, your jack probably won't however it will limit this behavior to an acceptable level. it is ok from time to time to give kisses. :P but not all the time.
