We have a year old girl and she does this very frequently...as if she's saying please...lol...it's usually when she wants something and it's a guessing game until we get it figured out...we know we've figured it out when she starts jumping or hopping rather...and i know I'm going to sound crazy but she will smile and chatter...

is it winter where you are and you are walking her outside? That is pretty much the only time my JRT raises her paw. IT gets frozen where I am in the dead of winter or one time I think she sprained it or something jumping off the bed but it only lasted like 3 days.

Hello Alabama,
Well, the only time that my JRT does this is:
She is showing me that it hurts
Or...
She wants to play.
So, please look in the paw and gently spread the nail and look. She might have something in there.
If your poochie starts holding the paw up then for sure there is something wrong.
If you don't see anything, then I would give it a day and then off to the VET to have looked at.
