HELP PLEASE - My Jack Russell Leo has severe breathing problems.

He has had scopes examinations through his nostrils down into his

throat twice - and they flushed the areas.

he's had x rays of his chest and the vet can find
nothing wrong and it is very very upsetting to hear him snort owing to
shortage of breathe.

This condition started when he had a stick in
his mouth and that's when this - what sounded a lot like
reverse sneezing started - but apparently the palette area of
his throat is fine and this is not reverse sneezing.

Has anyone any clues, or perhaps their J.R. has experienced this
and can recommend anything at all as it has totally changed his
amazing little personality.

I'm waiting patiently for an answer.

Thank You.
Valerie.

Our dog has had these breathing problems for four years! And it is not getting better it is getting worse. She has these fits that last for hours, really bad at night, not good when you are trying to sleep! Vet brushes it off as a reverse sneeze she is having an asthmatic type fit, she can breath in but can't get the air out. Her whole body goes rigid during these fits!

My dog did a lot of snuffling, and the vet checked nose and mouth and gave me Piriton 4mg to give once a day, and this has worked fine after just 2days, he also used to rub his fac along the carpet, and rub his face with his paws, so now when we have been out I have a damp flannel handy on our return and wipe his face and this seems to help too, in the summer he has itchy feet so I wash his paws in a bowl of water when he has been on grass again this worked, hope you find a solution that will help, you can always ring your vet and ask if it is ok to try Piriton 4mg only you can ge them from the chemist, and I have been told they are safe for long term use. Good Luck.

It could be that it is an allergy, try some
children s Benedryl stips or some other anti histamine.
My dog was doing the reverse sneeze as well and that seemed to help. Also check the teeth to make sure that there is not an infection or abscess that could be irritating the nasal passage or throat
