black spots on a jack russells skin?

why do jack Russells get black spots on there skin? mine never had them as a puppy then as he got older the more spots he started getting?

it is called "ticking" and the more they have the better the stock they came from. Same with the inside of their mouths. My JRT is 8 years old in August and he got more and more of the balck spots until he was about 4.

We have a JJack Russell named Maggie, we just got her 2 weeks ago, she's 18 months old, and has those black spots also.I was told that is normal skin pigmation ???
